Today I shot the pictures for the lookbook. A very hot and warm day to do that. But happily it was very cool in the shed where I took the pictures. Here a view trough my camera from the first floor.

For one of my masterclasses (analog/digital) we made pictures with wet colodium and here the result of my group.
Next week we have a small exibition in the WinterGarden of the Academy, but I’ll post the flyer soon. It is wednesday, thursday (opening at night) and friday. Feel free to stop by!

As I told you 2 teeks back we had an in between presentation. One of the remarks for me were my pictures. they were good but not fitting for the story. So last week I took some new photo’s. Just some different tests (really just tests!) and here just a few photos of it. So hopefully I can make something work.
Meanwhile I also found out that the other place for printing more sarongs has no time, so its just hoping that the textile museum finds a place for me. Otherwise it’s going the be on order or something like that.

As I told you bamboo is multifuntional for its uses and a sarong is multifuntional for its wearability. So that multifunctionality I wanted to put in my communictiondesign, therefore my lookbook is also my wrappingpaper. I heard from the printer that the maximum format they could print rectoverso (for a lower amount of lookbooks and not the expensive) was 57×36 cm. So today I checked out that size (because I was thinking bigger (at least a full A2)) but I noticed that the proportions where great actually (it fits right in the line of the tags) and I can still use it for wrapping paper (see the pictures below) but I still think bigger would be better in this case. So thinking and comparing everything.

Meanwhile I heard back from the other place to print more sarongs, but they ask almost double the price I paid in the Textile museum! So this weekend a talk with the parents about it. For today I’m gonna work on my procesfolio and thinking and looking for different ways to photograph my sarongs this weekend.

Below you see the new size of the lookbook (if I’m gonna print it at Drukkerij DeJong), the green paper is a full A4, so you can see the size of the folded lookbook. And the rest of the pictures is the lookbook used as wrapping paper.

I posted something about this beautiful fabric designs from Vlisco before. But since I’m thinking and looking for a way (or different ways tot test) to take pictures of my sarongs I came back to Vlisco.
I just love their way of showing the fabrics (ok it are clothes but even then it is all about the print) with a model and give all the attention to the prints. In the picture below I just love the wave in the dress, in my oppion it is close to what I did before wit hmy pictures but then on a model. Definitly something to test out!

As you know my sarongs are printed, and here a pictures I took from one of the sarongs.
One of the remarks during the presentation last week was the fact that the picture misses some humanthings (to show the wearability or something like that). So at the end of this week I’m gonna do an other shoot.

Meanwhile I checked with the Textile Museum in Tilburg if it was possible to print more sarongs. But unfortunally they are fully booked until the end of june! When there falls a client out I can have their spot, but for now it is looking for an other place where I can print my sarongs on the same fabric and for the same price. Not so easy to find!

Last week we had the trial presentation, and it went well. Ofcourse some comments but for now I’m gonna let it rest a bit. Just to let everything that was said come to me and think about it and think about what I can do with it. Meanwhile I also got the price indication of the printer, but looking at the comments I may need to change it to a lot more tags that need to be printed. So a lot of thinking at the moment, while looking for something I want to do next year. Is it studying or internships?

But I did found this on the internet and I just want to have it!
It is a colourbook with pictures of Kate Moss! It is an idea fro Mel Simone Elliott and it are not a few pictures of the British topmodel, but a series of famous plates that have been transformed to colourplates.

It was a very hectic weekend, working hard for the ‘inbetween presentation’ tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. And today I had a meeting with the printer for choosing the paper and prices. And I found it!
Not so easy because I needed it in something like a 250gr and in maximum 100gr with a texture and a bit of colour (ofwhite/creme). But with some help I found the perfect paper (in my eyes).

And for tomorrow I want to give everybody a bit of luck with this lucky bamboo (not a real bamboo as I told you, but still for the goodluck during the presenation it counts!)
And now preparing the last things for the presentation (especialy practicing what I want to say).

Yesterday we thought about a solution for all my different books (lookbook – procesfolio – an additional information book about the sarongprints) and maybe it is a good idea to put it in one. Or at least with the same proportions. So today I’m testing out the lookbook and proces/info/aditional booklet in one. The lookbook isn’t ready yet (of course not, I still need tot take a lot of pictures when the sarongs are ready) but i do have the idea en measurements of the lookbook and I have my procesphoto’s.
What a work! to find the right measurements within the big size and then everything needs to be put in the right order… still a lot of work and a lot of time needed for it, but for now it is time to make diner.
